Sands Point Family Home

This project began with a compelling premise: take a historic carriage house on Long Island's Gold Coast and transform it into a full-time weekend and holiday home for a New York City family. At 2,601 square feet, the space demanded interiors that could feel special enough for holidays, relaxed enough for weekends, and personal enough to truly belong to this specific family.
Working with architect Alan Cooper and builder Joe Mazzitelli, Marie-Christine Design approached the project as an exercise in warmth and restraint. The original character of the carriage house; its bones, the intimacy of the spaces and its sense of history - all were honored rather than erased. Layered textiles, collected objects, and a rich palette of textured neutrals woven with moments of rich color, give each room depth.
The result is a beautiful country retreat: Rooms that feel collected rather than decorated.
